Nvidia's RTX Spark laptops ship from six makers, with up to 128GB of memory

What happened
Nvidia said on Oct. 16 that RTX Spark laptops are on sale from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI. Each pairs a Blackwell RTX GPU and a Grace CPU in one chip with up to 128GB of unified memory. Nvidia rates it at up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI compute, a vendor figure with no independent benchmark yet. The same day Nvidia and Mercedes-Benz said they would extend their automated-driving partnership, a day after Volvo Cars announced a similar expansion; neither carmaker gave a launch date.
What we know
- Nvidia says RTX Spark laptops are available now from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI, with more systems to follow (per Nvidia's newsroom).
- The chip combines a Blackwell RTX GPU and a Grace CPU with up to 128GB of unified memory. MediaTek worked with Nvidia on the custom CPU design (per Nvidia).
- Nvidia lists a 74-billion-parameter model, Nemotron 3.5 Bolt, for tool calling on supported configurations. Adobe Photoshop and Premiere have native beta support at launch (per Nvidia).
- Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia will build on Nvidia's Hyperion computer and sensor architecture, Alpamayo Stack driving software and Halos safety system. The aim is future SAE Level 4 applications, including robolimousines (per Nvidia and The Next Web).
- Volvo Cars announced its own expanded Nvidia deal on Thursday, covering door-to-door driving. It will debut in an unnamed next-generation model. Mercedes also signed a September deal to put London-based Wayve's AI Driver in future cars.
What we don't know yet
- Whether RTX Spark delivers the claimed 1 petaflop FP4 compute, 100+ fps AAA gaming at 1440p and all-day battery life. All of these are Nvidia's figures, and no independent testing is cited in the sources.
- Launch prices, and which configurations offer the full 128GB of memory.
- When Mercedes or Volvo cars with the expanded Nvidia stack will reach customers, and which models come first. Neither carmaker gave a date.
- How Mercedes will split work between Nvidia and its other AI-driver partners, Wayve and Momenta.
Why it matters
If the vendor figures hold up, Windows laptop buyers get a thin-and-light machine that can run large language models locally. That puts it in competition with cloud inference and with the other premium laptops that run local AI. In cars, Mercedes and Volvo are building on the same Nvidia stack, which concentrates more of the driver-assistance market on one chip supplier.
